Privacy Policy for SadiVon

This Privacy Policy applies to the SadiVon mobile app (package site.sadivon.app)
and the SadiVon web app. SadiVon is a gardening companion that helps you plan sowing and planting
using local weather and frost data.

Data we collect
- Account data: your email address and an app-internal user ID. You sign in with
Google Sign-In via Firebase Authentication. We never see or store your password.
- Garden data you enter: garden name, the garden location you select by searching
for a place (exact coordinates of the place you pick, plus the place name), and derived values we
compute from it (estimated last frost date, climate category, monthly climate profile).
- Plant data you enter: plants you add to a garden, sowing mode (indoors/direct),
seeded and planted dates, and per-plant notification preferences.
- Preferences: preferred notification hour, app language, timezone, and device
locale (used only to pre-select the app language).
- Push notification tokens: the push token issued by your device/platform
(e.g. Firebase Cloud Messaging token) so we can deliver watering and planting reminders you asked for.
- Search queries: plant names or place names you type into search, sent to our
server to return results.
Location note: the app does not use your device GPS and requests
no location permission. A garden location is stored only when you explicitly search for
and select a place. There is no background location collection.
What we do NOT collect: no photos or camera images, no contacts, no files,
no advertising identifiers, and no analytics or crash-reporting data. We do not collect your name
or phone number.
How we use your data
- Account data — to create and manage your account and keep your gardens private to you.
- Garden location — to estimate frost dates, fetch weather data, and compute planting recommendations.
- Plants and preferences — to show your gardening calendar and send reminders at your preferred hour.
- Push tokens — solely to deliver notifications you requested.
- Search queries — solely to return the results you asked for.
We use your data only to operate SadiVon's features. We do not sell your personal data,
and we do not use it for advertising.
Who we share data with
We share data only with service providers who process it on our behalf to operate the app:
- Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Messaging) — verifies your sign-in,
delivers push notifications, and deletes your sign-in identity when you delete your account.
- Open-Meteo (weather service) — receives garden coordinates only, to return
weather forecasts. No account data is sent.
- OpenStreetMap Nominatim (geocoding) — receives coordinates or place text you
typed, to resolve place names and search suggestions.
- Anthropic Claude — receives a place name with coordinates to estimate frost
dates, and plant search text to look up plant growing information.
- Wikipedia / iNaturalist — receive plant names only, to fetch public plant
images for the shared plant catalog.
- Wikimedia — plant images are proxied through our server; no account data is attached.
Data security
All traffic between the app and our servers, and between our servers and the providers above,
is encrypted with TLS (HTTPS). Access to your data requires your Firebase sign-in token, and every
user can access only their own gardens and plants. We store no passwords: authentication is fully
delegated to Firebase Authentication.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account exists, and for no other purpose afterwards.
You can delete individual plants at any time in the app.
Deleting your account deletes all of your data — your gardens, plants, preferences,
push tokens, and notification history are permanently removed from our servers, and your Firebase
sign-in identity is deleted as well. Deletion takes effect immediately and cannot be undone.
We retain no data after account deletion: there are no backups kept for deleted accounts and no
legally required retention applies to this data.
Children's privacy
SadiVon is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children
under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If how we handle data changes, we will update this page and revise the effective date above.
Significant changes will also be reflected in the app.
